Practical Astronomy July – Sky Charting Software

The topic for this month will be Sky Charting Software.

Sky Charting software can be used for planning your observing sessions, previewing Sky Events and even telescope and dome control control. They are also a great educational resource for learning and gaining understanding of some of the jargon used in astronomy. We will use the Open Source desktop application Stellarium to investigate some of these features and also demonstrate the use of a mobile device using the Sky Safari app.
