Introduction to Astronomy October 2024

October 7 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Solar System Surprises

by guest speaker Jonathan Park

We know a great deal about our Solar System – there are eight planets, several dwarf planets, over 300 moons, countless asteroids (some with moons!) and other small objects… the list goes on.  Of course, there is sure to be more to discover and many mysteries still to be solved.  But in the vast amount of current Solar System knowledge, there are some facts that will surprise you!  For example, you will learn what plutinos, twotinos and cubewanos (“Q-B-waanos”) are.  This talk includes something for all age groups and all levels of astronomy knowledge, so come along to hear about a selection of these “Solar System Surprises”!

This meeting will also be live-streamed on the AAS YouTube channel.
